Bio

Anna is a founding member of the Gold Coast branch of the Qld Greens which kicked off at Currumbin on 20 June 1992. She has been branch secretary on a number of occasions, a delegate to state council as well as newsletter editor.

Currently she manages the office in her partner's practice in allied health. Years ago she gained a BA with majors in Government as well as Indonesian & Malaysian studies, and a Dip Ed in ESL & English from Sydney Uni.

An introduction at age 3 to Church of England Sunday school (that's her excuse) encouraged a zeal for supporting social justice and equity leading her to take a 2 year contract with Australian Volunteers Abroad in the 70's to teach English at a university in Indonesia (a wonderful and interesting challenge), and on her return work for AVA then briefly for Freedom from Hunger. Later while a high school ESL teacher she joined Community Aid Abroad. After a stint of co-owning and managing an alternative life style bookshop, she worked as education officer for a fair-trade ngo set up to assist 3rd world crafts and tradespeople to develop their communities and preserve their cultural traditions.

A resident of the Gold Coast for 19 years and founding member of Gecko, she early joined the forces attempting to preserve the unique environmental values of this beautiful region. She initiated the GC Reconciliation group in 1996 which later included the Tweed Region and led to formation of 10 Reconciliation study groups in the area and many successful events trying to promote Reconciliation.

In her spare time, she loves the beach, the hinterland, painting and also tutors voluntarily in ESL.
