Babette's Feast - a Life in art and the environment

You are invited to a very special exhibition of art works by long term GECKO member, volunteer and golden Gecko recipient, Babette Light, to be held at the Robina Library art gallery from 18th April to the 5th May.

The exhibition launch, on Monday 18th from 7pm, will include music and presentations from her daughter's, Inge and Anja and other invited guests.

Most people know Babette as a stalwart defender of nature - spanning back to the very first campaigns to protect the Currumbin estuary. What many people don't know that Babette has a prolific artistic career spanning back over 45 years. Her art began as a child in war-torn Europe, with professional work beginning in the 1960's. Through her many years as an artist she has experimented with a wide range of different mediums from water colour, oils, charcoal, silk painting and design and commercial art. As a volunteer she has travelled as far as Ecuador to help with the Rainforest Information Centre's campaigns to protect the Cloud Forests.
